The latest research continues to say that the key to career and leadership development is continuous education, ongoing growth, and transformational learning. Internationally recognized leadership and learning expert, Dr. Susan R. Madsen, will provide an engaging presentation that will help attendees understand why this is so important for women, which types of learning opportunities can be most helpful, how our developmental capacity can be strengthened, and what we can do to deepen our growth.
CALL TO ACTION:
One of the Business Women's Forum goals is to influence positive change in our community. This month we are asking our attendees to bring gift cards or send e-gift cards to The Christmas Box International. One of Christmas Box International's biggest needs right now is gift cards for children's activities and restaurants in the community. When the kids live there, the staff like to take them out in the community for different opportunities for two reasons:
Dr. Susan R. Madsen is the Orin R. Woodbury Professor of Leadership & Ethics in the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University, and is also the Founding Director of the Utah Women & Leadership Project. She has led efforts in Utah to get more women to graduate from college and to help more girls and women find their voices and become leaders. Dr. Madsen and her team have written many Utah research and policy briefs, research snapshots, impact reports, newspaper editorials, and other resources. They host 20-30 events each year to support the mission of their work.
The Christmas Box International (CBI) is a non-profit charitable organization serving children, teens and young adults who experience abuse, neglect or are facing homelessness. Last year, CBI served over 10,400 children, and the three Christmas Box House emergency children?s shelters, in partnership with child welfare agencies, provided 11,966 days of care. CBI also oversees ten community-based Christmas Box Resource Rooms giving needed supplies to 5,200 children state-wide; holiday gifts to 2,600 children; support for 820 young adults transitioning into adult living; and shares resources with 37 local and international child welfare agencies.
