Financial Statements: Do's and Don'ts for Your Small Business

Tracking financial data is an essential practice of the day-to-day operations of your small business, and it is also essential when seeking funding to take your business to the next level. Understanding your financial data can help you identify your margins, determine your cash flow projections, and make filing taxes easier.

During this class we will also cover the basic components of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and cash flow projections.  Lastly, we will discuss best practices for small businesses and potential mistakes to avoid.

About the presenter

Stephanie Fawson, Senior Audit Manager, CBIZ & Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C.

Stephanie graduated from Utah State University, Masters in Accountancy.

She has more than ten years of public accounting experience working in the CBIZ and Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. Salt Lake City office.  She provides services to nonpublic companies and employee benefit plans.

Her industry specialties include professional service organizations, manufacturing companies and software development companies. Her work includes clients with private equity capital and she has recently assisted clients with accounting for private equity acquisitions.  She also manages all of the Salt Lake City office’s employee benefit plan audits.

Parking Instructions:
If you are driving, park in the west side of the parking lot on the corner with 400 South and State Street. When you arrive, proceed to the left/west (monthly and validated parking) area and take a ticket and pass through the yellow parking gate. We will provide validations upstairs at the front desk. 

Please do not enter on the right/east side and park in the two rows closest to the building or you will have to pay in advance and we will not be able to validate your parking.
