DESCRIPTION:The Salt Lake Chapter of the BYU Management Society is proud to honor Derek Miller as this year's Distinguished Utahn.  Please join us for an enjoyable evening with inspiring presentations\, entertainment\, dinner and the warmth of gracious company.\n\n			\n\n			Derek Miller is the President and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance.  The Chamber is the state's largest and longest serving business association that "Stands as the Voice of Business." In this role\, Mr. Miller leads the business community in advocating and leading Utah's continued economic prosperity. \n\n			\n\n			Previously\, Mr. Miller served as the President and CEO of the World Trade Center Utah\, helping to "Promote international business across the state."  He also served as Chief of Staff for Governor Gary Herbert and as Managing Director of the Governor's Office of Economic Development for Governor Huntsman.\n\n			\n\n			Event Co-Chair Mike Poulter stated\, ""Each year the Salt Lake Chapter of the BYU Management Society\, through its Distinguished Utahn Gala\, honors an individual or group that has demonstrated moral and ethical leadership.  Derek Miller's sterling career has focused on expanding economic opportunity and prosperity\, primarily within the state of Utah."  \n\n			\n\n			Past Distinguished Utahn honorees include former Governor Gary Herbert\, Gail Miller\, Senator Orrin Hatch\, Frank Layden\, William H. Child\, Robert H. Garff\, Jon & Karen Huntsman\, Dr. Steven R. Covey and many other extraordinary Utah leaders since 1994.
