DESCRIPTION:The Work Activity Center is holding a Spring Fling Gala on March 1! Join them for dinner\, a cash bar\, silent auction and program.\n\n\n\nAll proceeds from the Spring Fling Gala will go towards establishing a foundation grant system to help fund people that can't access state funding to get the services they need.  We offer a community day program\, residential services including apartments\, and employment support.  There are thousands of disabled people that have been on the waiting list for state funding for years and need our services.  Help us reach our goal of $50\,000!\n\n\n\nInterested in sponsorship?\n\nIf you or your company is interested in sponsoring\, please contact Karina McLellan at marina.mclellan@workactivitycenter.org. Sponsorship is available in three levels\, including platinum ($3000)\, gold ($2000) and silver ($1000).\n\n\n\nAbout The Work Activity Center\n\nThe Work Activity Center enriches the lives of people with disabilities by actively providing community opportunities for independence for individual growth. \n\n\n\nThe Center was founded in 1958 by a group of parents whose children had disabilities. The group was able to rent a barracks building at Fort Douglas for $1 a year. When public education for all children was mandated in 1975\, our focus changed to assisting adults with disabilities.\n\n\n\nThroughout the 70's and  80's\, services grew to support a wider variety of needs. Employment programs were created so that individuals could go out into the community and earn a paycheck. Residential services were started to address the needs of individuals that needed support to live on their own. Additional day services were opened in the 90's so participants could have community and sensory experiences. \n\n\n\nToday the center is one of Utah's most vibrant work and training alternatives\, providing an invaluable resource for over 250 participants and their families.
