Be a part of the demonstration and lend your gardening skills to the Washington Square Water Conservation Demonstration Garden located in downtown SLC. Experienced volunteers are needed to perform ongoing garden maintenance including weeding, pruning, and troubleshooting. This project is great for small groups of 2 or 3 people who are willing to put in 1 – 2 hours of work one week per month during the growing season. By participating in the Friend of the Gardens program, volunteers are able to gain a sense of ownership for making a difference in our community. Salt Lake City's two demonstration gardens are seen by thousands of people each year and we hope to create more in the future. Volunteers are asked to please bring their own gloves and hand tools including trowels, probes, pruners, and small headed rakes if possible. Interested volunteers should register online at www.myvolunteerpage.com or contact Savannah Wake at savannah.wake@slcgov.com or 801-535-6202.
