Mike Vela has been with HKS 39 years, is a principal of the firm and Emeritus Office Director.  Additionally, Mike coordinates within the Mountain Region (SLC, Phoenix and Denver offices) as well as the entire HKS team of 29 offices worldwide. HKS SLC is a diversified architectural firm with projects in Healthcare, Commercial, Education, Assembly, Ecclesiastical, Hospitality, Residential and Manufacturing sectors. Mike is also the Assembly National Sector leader for HKS. Mike earned a Master of Architecture at the University of Texas, Arlington, Texas and an undergraduate Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Texas, Austin, Texas. Mike is also an Associate Professor at the University of Utah and has taught in the School of Architecture for the past 17 years. Mike currently serves as a Board member of the Salt Lake City Historic Landmark Commission.
